Not that many people know much about the rowing team, or the people on the team. That is quite unfortunate. They seem like such great people. I remember reading about a girl on the team, Liz Harsley, who donated bone marrow to help a stranger. There aren't too many college students, or people in this world who would be willing to sacrifice the time and pain necessary to retrieve bone marrow. That pain probably turns to joy once you realize that you are saving a life.
Another rower, Mikey Sevick was in the United States Marine Corps. My cousin was in the Marines (He just graduated from UConn in December) and I have had lots of other family members serve our country. I find it admirable to want to serve in the military. I always believe that you should thank people in the military for their service to their country. I want to thank Mikey Sevick for her service and also thank anyone else who has served. The work that people in the military do is vital, even if you serve and never go to Iraq or Afghanistan.
Serving your country and saving a life is so much more important than what goes on, on the field, court or in the boat.
