I probably wrote all this already so if you want a quick summary, two guys were wearing women's soccer gear and I thought the team might like to know that some people love them.
Considering that someone thinks Meghan Cunningham has a website about her (I can only assume they mean this) and that Mandy Schwartz and Brianna Gray were beyond thrilled that I knew who they were, I figure they should know a few things that I see and hear from the marketing table.
Contrary to what they might think, they do have some fans. I saw two guys with a Women's Soccer hat on today at the baseball game. Sam Witryol also showed up at softball although I forget if he was showing off his women's soccer hat. They know Sam is a fan though. John from Somers also came by and seemed to know everything about the incoming freshman women's soccer class. He also mentioned that one player currently on the team was a sweetheart and that another was awesome. He said that Mandy Schwartz was awesome...and to be honest I get the impression that she is. John called Erin Clark a sweetheart. That goes pretty accurately with Willis Reed's description. As I have said before everyone picks Erin Clark to score the first goal for women's soccer...I mean everyone, especially 8 year old girls and guys that like to shout it out as if it was from the gospel and stare you down. Ashley O'Brien, Brittany Tegeler, Annie Yi and Elizabeth Eng got there fair share of votes too...Their fans just weren't as loud and proud as Clark's.
Bob Maxon, the NBC 30 weatherman brought his Simsbury team to a UConn game and told them specifically to look for Meghan Cunningham. (not making that up at all)
During the UConn vs. WVU game the CBS College Sports TV announcers could not stop talking about Stephanie Labbe and Erin Clark. They were in love with both of them. Annie Yi was not far behind in love from the commentators...They talked about her and Labbe a lot in the Notre Dame game. I was kind of surprised they didn't talk more about Kacey Richards and Brittany Tegeler considering that they won awards for their play this year.
Another man came up and said that Melissa Busque was the best freshman soccer player in America at the Notre Dame vs UConn game on October 19th.
A women at a women's basketball game started to talk about going to the women's soccer games when I was going through the stands at the XL center.
My neighbor asked me how Stephanie Labbe was doing.
That is some real fan feedback for the team...if they read it...
That is fact...I am not lying about any of this at all...I can be serious sometimes.
My fan feedback would be to be more confident in themselves. The biggest mistake they could ever make is not believing in themselves.
John from Somers also was given some apparel from Coach Penders so Coach Jim Penders deserves some credit for that. It's a good gesture for a good fan.
