One of my favorite people at UCTV is Noelle Horelik. She's just an awesome person. Truly she is. I'm glad she's on TV and doing what she enjoys doing. She also was a great athlete. She broke many of her high schools own records. Now she's doing something that I think is much cooler.
That would be seeing a problem and actually doing something to fix it. She noticed there wasn't a good youth development program for runners in her area. She also did something about it. She started a running clinic.
Most people complain and find problems. The rare, awesome few, do much less in the way of complaining and much much much more in the way of doing and solving problems.
FYI considering this involves sports I'm going to crush any well-intended thoughts that might have just popped up. Student-athletes cannot just start one of these.
In reading the about me section of her website I saw that one of her goals was to teach kids to set goals that they can achieve. I can't think of any better lesson for a kid than to set a goal and to achieve it. That teaches a person that they can do whatever they want if they set their mind to it.
I wish I was still in middle school so I could go to this. Too bad I'm in college.
If I had a kid they'd be going to this clinic because Noelle is awesome.
I don't have a kid.
However, you should at least check out her website and tell someone who likes running about it.
If they go, they will probably have a blast.
