WPS

Ok, well I was watching the TV and I randomly saw Meghan Schnur playing for Sky Blue in the WPS. I always complain about me being to dumb to walk over to see her play at UConn in 2006 and 2007 but atleast I saw here there. I saw about 20 minutes worth. She played defense and she had her name read on TV a little bit.

Anyway...my thoughts...on the WPS...

I don't know how the league is doing...

There are a lot of things I like and some things I'd improve upon.

I think that the soccer specfic facilites look really good. I think I saw the Washington Freedom's facility on TV and it looked great. It looked like a place you could watch a game and relax. It looked like a nice venue.

I have seen a lot of cultural bands entertaining at games. I think it's appropriate for the league and family entertainment. I think it would add to the game experience.

People are also slowly becoming aware of the league. My Uncle noticed an advertisement for the Breakers in Boston and Meghan Nanfeldt noticed an ad on the interstate for Sky Blue FC. I learned about it...because I just know too much about sports...I don't even apply to that question.

On the other hand the Boston Breakers play in Harvard Stadium. I would try and move somewhere else for several reasons. First of all I think the football turf makes the game look weird. The ball bounces too much...plus sliding must REALLY REALLY hurt. Secondly the football lines are much more prominent then the soccer lines. (although maybe it's because I am a big football fan and used to those lines...they jump out at me....maybe soccer fans could pick out soccer lines easier than I could) Also the stadium looks like cement on television. I think it would look so much better if the Breakers moved to some soccer specific facility...even if it means going outside of Boston itself. I just don't like how that field looks on TV...I don't know what it looks like if I was there in person. I think the field makes the product look worse than it really is...because they are playing on a field that doesn't appear to be their field for their sport.

That's my two cents...constructive criticism that's all...not hating on the league at all. I try to tune in for a little bit when they get on TV.
