I love picking on the Yankees. I can't stand them. I actually was pulling for the Phillies (I am a Mets fan) when they played each other this year. I also love making fun of how much they spend.
I have to put another team on their level. That team would be Real Madrid. I finally learned what a transfer fee means in soccer. It was explained on Sportscenter.
Real Madrid just paid a ridiculous transfer fee to get Kaka. (yes that is a soccer player's name) and are about to spend another large amount to get another player...not named Cristiano Ronaldo. I'm guessing that those combined transfer fees are somewhere above $125-150 million dollars American...just to get the right to negotiate with a player. That money that they spend in a transfer fee is given to the team with the player on it. On top of that fee the team also has to pay the contract of the soccer player.
Real Madrid paid a transfer fee worth $131 million for soccer super star Cristiano Ronaldo. They will have to pay a contract that pays $10-15 million atleast per year to sign him on top of that.
That's a lot of money. Real Madrid has probably landed themselves in the Yankees territory.
