So my junior year ended pretty similarly to how it started. Rolling Posters. I remember, just yesterday I was at Rentschler field, in a luxury suite rolling football posters. Well learning how to do it. I was horrible at it, but I learned after awhile and now I am a professional. One of the last things I did was take down all of the UConn poster's hanging in my room. The last one down was a 2008 UConn Lacrosse poster. I left that for last because Meghan Nanfeldt is on it.
One of the things that I probably will be most known for this year was posters. I seemed to always be carrying around posters. Between putting them up in my room, to giving them to Husky Sport to hand out to kids in Hartford, I was busy distributing posters...All year. I also helped out a lot at Athletic Events. For men's soccer I'd always stay and help roll up all of the banners after the game.
There are so many memories from this year...and that's scary for the people who read this because my memory is so good. As a matter of fact it's so good that I tend to repeat myself now because I know that most people forget what I say. That's why certain subjects always come up.
One of the first things I remember about this year was being so happy to have a job at Athletic Marketing. I was so happy to get that job. I have had so much fun doing that this year. Husky Sport was also SO much fun. I have learned so much about myself through this program and I have made so many connections with so many young lives.
This has been with out a doubt the best year of my life. I will attempt to go through all of the great people and memorable moments of this year in the upcoming time off.
To make it simple though, through out all of the great sports moments that will help define my year at UConn, there were also SO MANY great people that I met this year. I learned something from all of them. Even if I just ran into someone at the marketing table.
My one tip to everyone on how to have a great year is to tune out of yourself and tune in to the world. In other words while your walking down the sidewalk un-plug from your Ipod, stop talking on your cell-phone and don't look down and text. Be ready to bump into other people...not literally but figuratively. Say hello to people, stop and have a conversation. You don't have to do this all of the time, but do it at least half of the time. Believe me, you'll thank me.
