I like my golf the way I like my ham, sliced.
So I went to the driving range today at Sterling Farms with my long time friend Brian Callahan. It was a first for me at Sterling Farms. I hit 100 golf balls today. I only swung and missed once...maybe never not sure. There was atleast one where I was so bad that I died laughing.
There were 10 I hit that I had no idea where they went. Probably was a bad thing.
There were probably 20 that I hit straight or mostly straight with a small slice or hooked.
The other 70. The other 70 were just like the ham I eat, sliced.
Sliced pretty badly.
I made fun of myself the entire time I was there. I'm sure the other golfers liked that. I'm sure they appreciated it when I laughed when I hit it 6 feet.
I started getting better by ball 75. I think I managed to hit it 155-160. Not impressive, but good considering I had no instructor and haven't played much in my life. I was so good at slicing that I actually was able to hit a green pretty frequently. The problem was I wasn't aiming at the green. Atleast I could fairly consistently hit it.
I was successfully able to develop a blister today too. I have a lot of work to do when it comes to golf!
I also ran into a neighbor of mine at the course and their two little kids. I told them that their kids could outdrive me. The parents didn't think so, but their 4 or 5 year old son thought he could. He challenged me. Knowing my skills I backed down.
I actually said he should give me lessons. Then they said they would charge me $50. Then I ended the conversation.
