I love it when I get on TV. Even if it's for coaching soccer...ok well you saw me coaching soccer...it was more about mentoring kids.

Which is a great thing. Unfortunately the weather didn't cooperate with us so our Walk-A-Thon had to be held inside Clark Elementary school. Somehow I ended up coaching soccer...While I may right about it a lot, I've played it about 10 times in my life. I'm just catching on to the sport. Literally, the Men's and Women's Soccer teams at UConn are the reason I watch soccer. The Arsenal, and Bacary Sagna, also have had an impact on my love of soccer. I think I ended up with that because I was very excited to get to meet Stephanie Labbe outside of Dr. B's office hours. Dr. B thinks that I am a big Stephanie Labbe fan...which considering I follow her Swedish games on game tracker...would be true. At the time she said that I just considered myself a UConn Soccer fan. After getting to talk with Labbe I became a fan of hers.
So my nemesis for the day was a great soccer mind. She would have been the former Somers High School goalie who recorded 14 shut-outs as a senior. Apparently her high school team was nasty, which isn't surprising since I know of a female and male soccer player from Somers High School who play college soccer. Apparently Somers High doesn't have a football team so they kind of have to be good at soccer. After talking about her 14 shut-outs I got the sense that she would be embarrassed if I mentioned her by name...so I won't. Now she plays on the Club Softball team.
Anyway we both had fun coaching our teams...which really just consisted of reminding which players were in and which were on the bench. I don't know who had better soccer players, her team or mine. My team definitely took the cake in terms of Step Dancing. We were the best Step Dancing Soccer team ever.
The Walk-A-Thon went really well and it was a lot of fun for both us and the kids who took part. The kids in Hartford had been reading books and raising money for Emeka Okafor's One for One Safe Blood initiative. We helped them celebrate their wonderful achievements.
