Red Sox Nation

Having lived in Fairfield County and Worcester County I think I can make this following observation...Red Sox nation is much better than anything that the Yankees could claim to have.

I find that everyone up here is so passionate about the Red Sox. You assume that everyone here is a Red Sox fan. You know life stops when the Red Sox are playing. I think Red Sox fans are much more loyal than Yankees fans too.

Too often I think of Yankees fans as front-runners or people who like New York and want to be seen at the Stadium...or girls that like A-Rod or Jeter.

I think of Red Sox fans as people who go out to an old ball-park and brave the cold New England nights of the fall and talk about the games with neighbors all the time. I picture people going on fishing boats off of Martha's Vineyard talking about Jacoby Ellsbury's OPS. I think of Red Sox fans as people who have suffered through so much heartbreak that it is impossible for them to be a person who just joined the bandwagon. There is something about being a part of Red Sox nation that is just special and different from all other baseball teams.

I think being a fan is a much bigger thing for Red Sox fans than Yankee fans. (Not to say that Yankees fans aren't passionate...they are up there with the Red Sox fans...but I think Red Sox fans have an advantage over Yankees fans)

It's hard to explain, but just in comparing the two areas...the Red Sox are a much greater influence to their surrounding geographical area and people than the Yankees are...that could be because of the Mets, Dodgers and Giants and because New York is home to so many people from so many different places with so many different favorite baseball teams. I don't think being a die hard Yankees fan is a given if you live in the New York area...I do think being a Red Sox fan in New England is a given.

Also...lastly...Thankfully the METS WON!!!
