Misc. UConn volleyball, Donald Brown, Mets

I am really glad to see that at least the Big East respects Donald Brown enough to make him Offensive Player of the Year for the conference. I don't understand how you can be the leading rusher in the country and not be one of three finalists for the Doak Walker award. Brown had 17 TD's I think. That's a real joke. I'd say as far as the Heisman is concerned, I think you have to have an amazing year and have your team go to say a BCS Bowl or Big Time Non-BCS Bowl.

I'm also proud of Annie Luhrsen and UConn Volleyball. She was named the regions Freshman of the year. I never once missed Bridget Denson-Dorman even though she was really good last year. Luhrsen was amazing to watch. She seemed to be head and shoulders above any setters I saw. She was the only setter at Gampel this season who didn't leave early. (Ask Ryan Grace for any explanations) Lauren Lamberti said that Annie was the best setter in the country and she looks like she might be. Luhrsen finished 10th in the country in Aces Per set. 6 Huskies; Luhrsen, Lamberti, Isaac, Mickens, Murray and Frey finished in the top 350 in the country for atleast one statistic. Volleyball has greatly improved in just one year. Only one player is graduating from this year. We have a lot of talent, and while we didn't end the year as strongly has I think we could have I definetly can envision UConn Volleyball winning the Big East tournament next year. We finished 4th in regular season conference standings, and beat Cincinnati for the first time in program history. We also almost beat St. Johns and Louisville too, and those two teams were ranked in 2007 and were co-Big East Champs that year too. The program is taking off, and will be very very very good within the decade. Make sure you come out and support the team next season at Gampel. All games are free, the team appreciates the support and they play volleyball a lot better than you might envision. UConn volleyball is much more entertaining than what you remember from your 10th grade gym classes.

Kaili McLaren is dying to have a Volleyball, can someone please help her out on that one.

Also you know that I am happy about J.J. Putz being on the Mets. Ok well maybe I'm just happier that Aaron Heilman is off the Mets. The Mets might actually have relievers who can strike someone out this upcoming season. I must say it is sad to see Endy Chavez leave though. Endy's catch against the Cardinals in game 7 of the 2006 NLCS is the best catch that I have seen any Met make.
