I think Heather Buck is really cool. According to John Altavilla's blog she didn't have cable growing up. I didn't have it until the 7th grade. I'm sure her and I know what it's like to return home from school and choose between a guy painting art, Judge Joe Brown. Judge Judy, The People's Court and Divorce Court.
Mandela Graves Fulgham broke the UConn school record for the 300m indoor running a 39.51 which was .95 of a second better then the 26 year old mark. It was UConn indoor tracks longest standing record. I know people back home would be happy to hear about STAMFORD HIGH'S Tynisha McMillian. The former Black Knight broke her own school record for the indoor shot put with a throw of 15.90m. That set an NCAA Provisional mark.
I am officially the first person ever to write about UConn Athletics and talk about women's soccer, women's track and field and provided a link to a rowing story, before mentioning Men's Basketball.
Time to talk Men's Hoops. Speaking of Stamford, I do hope that Craig Austrie will remain in the starting line-up when Stanley Robinson comes back to the team next week. There is some ridiculous stat that I can't find at this second that shows that UConn wins much more frequently when he starts. Craig isn't flashy, but he's a winner and I notice that. I believe that the team plays much more calmly and efficiently when he plays. That's not something that you can notice with stats.
Stamford High and Simsbury tied for the field hockey championship. I guess I’m proud of my high school, I’m not quite sure how they came away with a tie of the state championship without Karlie Tiscia. But I’m sure Forker’s team was “LEGIT CUZ” and thankfully the season didn’t turn into a “Train Wreck Cuz”
Simsbury High School has at least 4 athletes at UConn. Two of them on the women's soccer team so I am going to assume that they have some pretty good athletes from that place.
Speaking of Simsbury, and my earlier posts about Stephanie Labbe, Erin Clark and Meghan Cunningham, I found something interesting through UConnhuskies.com. I don't remember when but at some point over the semester I couldn't sleep and found myself surfing the internet at 2am researching something called the WPSL. Apparently some of the womens soccer players had success in this league over the summer. I think it's some sort of organized women's pro/amateur soccer league. I find it admirable that the athletes at UConn put in so much effort and hard work into soccer. It should make you want to go out and say maybe ATTEND THEIR SENIOR DAY. If you think about it they are pretty much playing soccer 500 days out of the year. At least 12 current or former UConn players played last year. One of those players was Meghan Cunningham, who also runs track at UConn...Thats pretty month 12 months non stop of practices. As I've mentioned before she also had a 3.86 GPA as a freshman. CBS college sports has already recognized Labbe by giving her some camera time. I hope the writers at the Daily Campus, TV people at UCTV and Huskies All-Access recognize one of UConn's 4 two sport athletes. I hope people in the media search for good stories like a Cunningham rather than try and create some sort of conflict between two head coaches. I like hearing good news. It's out there if you bother to look.

Cole Hamels will regret calling the Mets "Choke Artists" ....You don't need to state the obvious Cole...but by doing so your making an already mad and motivated team even madder and more motivated.
