The weekend

I have to say this past weekend was perfect, except for the fact that my bike wheel needs to be replaced...more on that later. I don't remember a Memorial Day Weekend like this, with weather so perfect.

The water temperature at our place was 75 degrees which was warm enough to get me in the water and waterski. I couldn't believe that I was waterskiing in May. I continued to improve on the ski's...going back and forth threw the wake much more easily. When I got up it had seemed that I just got off the skis a couple of days ago.

I also tried to wakeboard but didn't have a lot of success, but that isn't too surprising since I had never done that before and also had no instruction before I started, nor during since no one in my family knew how to do it.

I did a little bit of kayaking today. I hope to become really comfortable in the kayak. It's not like there is too much to kayaking, but I want kayaking to feel like biking to me. In other words, I'd dart between things easily and without thought. I have nothing on my Aunt, and probably never will though. I'm pretty sure she kayaked in Africa, maybe the Nile. I'm not sure I'd react well paddling with crocodiles and snakes.

I also got some reading in. In Memorial Day fashion I was reading about Patton. I learned that General Patton took part in the 1912 Olympics and came home a hero, because he placed better than expected. He was fifth in the modern Pentathlon. Interestingly Patton struggled in his best sport, shooting. He wasn't sure if he choked or if someone messed around with him.
