So good news for WPS is that they had a 6,125 attendance figure recently, which is good news. That was for the Atlanta Beat and was a television game. The Kennesaw State University field is a really nice facility from what I have seen from television and I think the league has made progress in the fact that they have teams playing in soccer specific facilities, and fields without football lines.
From my understanding Rochester, Atlanta, MagicJack and Sky Blue all play on fields without football lines. It's a small thing, but I think it makes a huge difference on how the game looks.
I also said that I thought the WPS should have taken a year off, but to be fair it's possible that the league's stars are not as valuable to the teams as people might think. Some sports are more star driven then others. The NBA without LeBron James, Kobe Bryant, or Michael Jordan is a big deal. If fans attachment points are teams and not players it might be wise for the WPS to keep playing while the sport gets attention from the World Cup.
I would still say, and recommend that women's soccer fans, of any level, watch or consume the product in some form this summer. This is a crucial summer for the sport.
