UMASS is a rival?

I couldn't help but notice how much the UMASS fans hated UCONN. They refused to take giveaway items that said UCONN on them. It wasn't that they didn't want them, it was "how dare you even think I would want that." It's funny because we are a rival to UMASS. UMASS thinks that UCONN is a big rival and that goes back to the old Yankee Conference, and Men's Basketball rivalry. To UCONN fans, UMASS is not a rival of ours. We don't see a UMASS shirt and have the same reaction that we would have to a Tennessee, Duke, Notre Dame or Syracuse shirt.
