I decided to try some cross country skiing for the first time today. It looked about as good as my first time waterskiing. So I basically need to practice.
It's snowing at my Lake House so I tried skiing for the first time. I had no idea what I was doing. I had no one helping me either. I just went to a small patch of free space in the back and started getting comfortable with the skis. My form was horrible and I'll have to work on it. I was moving both my arms together rather than swinging them like you are walking. I also fell once or twice, but who doesn't when they are learning.
Unfortunetly the recent warm temperatures did a number on the ice on the lake. It isn't as frozen as I would like it to be. I don't think it is safe enough to go out on the ice. Hopefully the cold temperatures tonight will help the lake freeze a little bit more so I can practice skiing tomorrow morning before I leave. I want to ski on the lake's wide open space so I can work on turning, rythmn and on a few other things. It's hard to get into a good rhythmn when your skiing in a small patch in your backyard.
Cross Country skiing will be a work in progress and hopefully I'll get a few chances to ski this winter.
