So someone won Big East Goalkeeper of the Week not that long ago. I also heard that a local newspaper was doing a better job covering their local women's college sports stars. I googled something and found what I was looking for.
I was impressed with the write up I found because it's better than what my local paper (for a city of 120,000...Stamford...not Ashburnham...which doesn't have a daily paper) which does college round ups every once in a while, and almost never talks about any awards won by our athletes in season. Usually if they do talk about them it's after the season.
So I was impressed with the article I read. I wonder if scoring a first career goal against the 8th ranked team in the country also made the paper.
I don't know whether scoring a career first against an 8th ranked national team was mentioned in someone's home town paper. Let me know which newspaper it is, and I will send the same letter to them, too!
ReplyDeleteBy the way, D&C was informed about Shuefelt's 2 goals against Syracuse. I am confident mention will be made since SU is the closest Division 1 unversity to her hometown.
well, Penn State was also 8th in the country and someone with a nick-name that might go with the word laces scored their first career goal against them.
ReplyDeleteIf that paper mentions those two goals, they could also have mentioned that first career goal too.
I'm quite amazed and glad that something I said has helped make a difference in the world.
Thanks for directing my attention to this. I have sent the UCONN link regarding her first career goal to our local paper.
ReplyDeleteLet's see what happens.
good luck!
ReplyDeleteCan't move fast enough - Nickname is now Big East.
ReplyDeleteHave told Jim & Jeff, lets see if they follow up.
