I am really excited about today's win. I am so happy because I thought I saw UConn Basketball in the 2nd half. I saw the men playing the best that I have ever seen them. They were amazing and so much fun to watch. They made me lose my voice and jump up and down all game long.
The team played so well with Coach Blaney. I was very happy with the way Ater Majok played. His hustle, enthusiasm and energy were terrific. I think a lot of people expected way too much from him. The game against Texas is something that Majok can build on. I saw some things I really liked from him. I really liked how we would knock a loose ball to a teammate if he couldn't get his hands on a rebound.
Jerome Dyson was terrific. I think he is the player on UCONN who is most capable of taking a game into his own hands and willing his way to victory.
Stanley Robinson's alley oop via Jerome Dyson via Ater Majok's hustle was absolutely amazing.
I loved Donnell Beverley's dunk. That made me go crazy. That was such a big play. That was a dagger in many ways. I also think that Beverley calms down the team and is a really effective player off of the bench. I think he sort of serves the team the way Craig Austrie did last year. A say sort of because Craig played more and also scored more, but the way Beverley slows it down and runs the offense reminds me a bit of Austrie.
Speaking of daggers Kemba Walker's 3 pointer from way downtown and way up in the sky was what really sealed the deal. Game was pretty much over after that. Kemba played well. He had 10 assists.
I loved it when Stanley slowed down the ball late in the game rather than trying to force something. It seems like we might be learning things.
Gampel Pavilion was so loud today. It was so exciting to be there.
