Well the Mets haven't done much of anything except watch their competitors get better.
The Mets usually will do something to generate interest in the offseason. They try to get a big name. Usually that name is old too and doesn't perform. The Mets shouldn't make a splash just to make a splash because in the case of the Mets (Mo Vaughn, Jeromy Burnitz, Roberto Alomar) those splashes sink the ship. I'd rather the Mets do nothing and see what happens if the player they want isn't available. See how much better a healthy team is and see if this team can win. Focus on the fundamentals and developing talent within your organization. Focus on drafting good players and build the farm system. That way is much more likely to lead to winning than anything else. It's just too bad New York and the Mets are often too impatient and too worried about keeping up with the Yankees to develop from within.
