Brittany Taylor is a UConn women's soccer player that I have never seen play. She tore her ACL and didn't play in 2008. She will be back in 2009.
I really wanted to see Stephanie Labbe play after I found out about her role with team Canada in the Olympics. I was excited to learn that someone who goes to my college will also be representing their country in the Olympics. I was even luckier to get to meet and speak with her this year. She is an awesome person.
Brittany Taylor is the Stephanie Labbe for me in 2009. I know that Taylor is a phenomenal player but I have not had the privilege of watching her play.
This is why it's a privilege to watch her play:
As a freshman Taylor lead the Big East in game-winning goals with 7.
As a sophomore she was the only player to score two goals on the North Carolina defense in the 2006 season. FYI North Carolina Women's Soccer (Mia Hamm, Kristine Lilly) is their Men's Basketball program X 5. That's how good their women's soccer program is. They won the National Championship in 2006. The two goals she scored was the first two goal halftime deficit that North Carolina had since 1999.
As a junior she was named Big East Defensive Player of the Year. She was also an NSCAA/addidas First Team All American.
She has made the Big East first team all 3 years in college.
All of that information comes from UConn Huskies.com.
So yeah, I look forward to watching her play. She's that good. She's already scored a couple goals in the W-League.
You definitely should check her and the team out in 2009. It's very likely that Taylor will continue with soccer after her college career at UConn is over.
I also think she appeared in a picture in an article about her W-League team and their commitment to doing community service.
