Well I am going to be busy for this week with some stuff that I have to do. At-least until the end of the week. I am very much looking forward to the Mayor of Storrs game on Monday night at 9:30. It is rumored that a special guest might, just might show up.
Anyway on to the reason for this post. How did I spend this night? trying to catch up on some work...and then at 10:30pm on a Saturday night, I thought it would be a great idea to go run stadiums at Memorial Stadium. It was actually the first time that I ever ran stadiums...for a workout and not for work (XL Center stairs). Then after that I decided to go run some sprints on the track.
Also a random thought...I love it when non-athletes discuss injuries with athletes. It's just a funny conversation. I've been on the non-athlete side...I'll admit it, doing this at least once. It's just funny how people compare like bruises..."Oh I got hit in the leg during a pick up game at North. I usually go running but I want to take it lightly, you know what I mean." Meanwhile I can't help but think to myself that the athlete in this situation (who almost always shows sympathy, "oh yeah I know what you mean, that sucks!") has gone through so many worse things...like maybe having to rehab from a muscle tear or having a broken bone and playing through them. Alex Polito and Kristen "Willis Reed" Beasley are tough. They both competed with tears. Competing in a intramural game with a bruise sustained from banging your knee on a door doesn't compare to that. While I'm sure it sucks...the injury suffered by a non-athlete is nothing close to that of an athlete's list of injuries, pain and suffering, yet I love how often people try to put them on the same level.
