I have a feeling a lot of people are going to get mad at me for what I am about to say. I mean who doesn't want to promote children being smart and studying.
WHY ON EARTH DID I TUNE IN TO ESPN AND WATCH A SPELLING BEE.
I WANT SPORTS.
SPELLING IS NOT A SPORT.
It's sad that the WPS is behind a Spelling Bee.
Who watches the spelling bee? I hope an english class is actually tuning into this during school so it is somewhat useful.
Watching a Spelling Bee? Did you get tired of the Price is Right?
I'd have trouble choosing between the Spelling Bee, QVC and static.

That's English? I'm being serious...
I'm sorry but you can't really tell me that you have time to broadcast a Spelling Bee and not have time to broadcast NCAA Women's Bowling, or NCAA Rifle, or especially WPS, MLL.
I'm all for education and promoting reading and spelling and good grammar. I even try to use good grammar in text messages. If I don't I'm either being really lazy, I'm busy or trying to cram a paper into 160 characters.
I just really really don't understand how Spelling Bee's are either sports or entertainment. Yes I understand how ESPN is a good vehicle to promote that too many young people, but wouldn't it be SO much more useful if athletes went in to schools and read with students?
