I think I know why kids are obese

So as I was traveling today to UConn, (Yes I am in the Natatorium right now) from Ashburnham. On the way out of Ashburnham I was caught behind a bus and I started to realize why children are dealing with an obestity problem.

The bus stopped every four houses. IT WAS BRUTAL to have to be behind that bus. The traffic problems that a bus, plus the designers of a Massachusetts roadway cause is unbelieveable.

(Seriously in Massachusetts someone thought it would be a good idea to put a rotary in the middle of a highway...or have unnumbered highway exits that confuse you when you are trying to get off the next exit)

These children didn't have to move far at all to get to their bus. I was amazed. It was like door to door service. I had to walk about a half mile to my bus stop from middle school on. In elementary school it was still probably a quarter mile.

I know we are trying to balance safety from whack jobs who are in too many neighborhoods, but at the same time just having kids walk a little further to their bus (and their bus could also make less stops!) would be such a small thing to help keep kids healthy.
