Big Stadium

I was reading about a sport in Australia where the field is twice as big as a soccer field. I cannot imagine the facility to house that. It must be so hard to see the whole field and it also must require a lot of fans in order to fill the entire stadium and have a good atmosphere.

Also I was thinking about NASCAR because they have such massive facilities and race tracks. It really made me realize why Bristol Motor Speedway is one of the most popular facilities. It doesn't hold the Daytona 500 or Brickyard 400, or the championship race, or even a race in the Chase for the Championship but it does have two successful races and popular races. I think there are two reasons for this. The track is half a mile wide and has high angled, steep turns which create a lot of action for fans. There is always drama and hot tempers at this race. On top of that the facility is small enough that a NASCAR fan will always be seeing a car go by and can see almost all of the race from any seat there.

I've been to a race at Pocono Raceway and it's one of the larger tracks. It was fun, but it was hard to see things happening on the other half of the race track.

On top of that stadiums that are too big take away from the atmosphere of games and that diminishes interest in the sport. On the other hand smaller facilities with a better atmosphere increases interest and makes it harder to get tickets for an event.
