I was watching sportscenter today and I saw the Mets Not Top 10 of the season so far. Some of what I saw really made me laugh. Some of what I saw made me want to cry. None of what I saw should happen on a major league field.
To be fair several of those plays were made by players who were out of position, but still those plays need to be made. At this point in the Mets season I hope that they don't make any trades because I don't want to give up any minor leaguers to help out this team. The Mets can't get enough from trades to win the World Series. (The year the Mets thought they were in contention and Jim Duquette traded Scott Kazmir and prospects for Kris Benson and Victor Zambrano is a prime example of why the Mets shouldn't trade for mediocre players to attempt to be in the wild card race) Mets fans have to hope that the injured players come back and make a difference. They are the key to the teams success
I can't fault the manager for this year. Actually I don't think the Mets should have fired Bobby Valentine and especially not Willie Randolph. The players the Mets have are why they don't win. What do you expect your manager to do when you have AAA players filling in for injured stars? The Mets also have great bench players...when they come off the bench.
Anyway I'm glad I am removed from Mets land this summer. I don't think I could take watching them. Somehow this team is still in contention. It's like a small consolation prize.
