D 1 vs D 2

I never really realized quite how different things are between a Division 1 athletics program and a Division 2 athletics program. I have been enlightened now. The first thing is that you get spoiled if you work in a Division 1 program when compared to a Division 2 one. The budgets are completely different.

Coaches also do more than just coach. At a division 1 school, I think of coaches, coaching, recruiting and coaching some more. At a Division 2 school the coaches coach and do administrative work in many cases. I know of a school where a volleyball coach is the senior women's administrator and the women's soccer coach is the assistant athletic director. The Compliance and Sports Information office work together to market too. Many of the other coaches are part-time coaches too. They have jobs beyond coaching at college.

I've noticed that it's a lot different than Division 1.
