Another attempt is being made at starting a Women's Professional Soccer League. Former UConn players Niki Cross, Meghan Schnur and Kristen Grayczyk are playing in the league. Schnur plays for New York/New Jersey. Cross plays for St. Louis and Graczyk is playing in California for the FC Gold Pride.
There are teams in Boston and New York. Here is a link to the leagues web-site if you are interested.

Last year Niki Cross played in Sweden, like Stephanie Labbe is doing now.
Sam Witryol talked about how good Graczyk was for UConn. He also told me he became interested in Women's Soccer...maybe even all of UConn's Women's teams because of Sara Whalen, a member of the U.S. National Team, and team that won the Women's World Cup in 1999 in front of 90,000 people at the Rose Bowl. I think she invited him to a game and Sam told me that he liked that the games were kind of like rooting for a family member or close friend.
