So the chances of me going to a WPSL game to watch the New England Mutiny went up a lot today. I was talking to my friend and she said she'd go to a game or two. I may put the two games against CT Soccerplus on my schedule of things to do this summer. These games would have the former U.S. National Coach Tony DiCicco (He coached the U.S. in the Olympics when they won gold in 1996 and in 1999 when the U.S. won the Women's Fifa World Cup...He went 103-8-8 as the U.S. National Coach...and UConn's own Erin Clark scored a Game Winner against his team in the WPSL last year) going up against the New England Mutiny, a team made up of many current UConn players and one, incoming freshman.
I think it's funny...I'm reading about this DiCicco guy. He's been a great U.S. Women's soccer coach. He has 4 kids, all of them sons. I just find that ironic. Coaches women and has 4 sons.
I am not going because of Meghan Cunningham. It's a bonus that she will be playing.
I am very interested to see the make up of the crowd, see the promotions, how sponsors activate their sponsorship etc. I wonder how the team operates and promotes it's self to the public. I want to see the media coverage. Being a sports management major makes these games very interesting to me. This is a great learning opportunity for me. I can't learn anything unless I go to these games or events. I'm tempted to also go to a game with little significance in the middle of the season to see how they continue to get fans for those games.
I also want to hang out with my friend too. This proves that I'm somewhat normal.
I also hope to get to a Cape Cod league game. I've heard so much about the Cape Cod league, but I've never been to a game itself. I also need to see Willis at work again. I want to be able to write about how amazing she is with the Cotuit Kettleers.
