I just finished reading a book about college football recruiting. It's fascinating. I've learned to believe almost none of what is said on those recruiting websites. There is some truth, but more than anything there is a lot of smoke and fog.
The one thing that fascinates me in terms of recruiting is with the athletes themselves. These coaches meet them and tell them how wonderful they are. Not just football, in all sports. How they will be the next such and such and why they are amazing and should go to their university. What makes me laugh is the transition a player must go through from being recruited by a coach to actually practicing for that coach. You did everything right and you were singing "Kumbaya" with your coach before you got to school. Then when you got to school you're doing so many things wrong and you're tired of listening to your coach.
