It's sunk in

For all the Meghan Cunningham talk..."amazingness" it's finally kind of sunk in how amazing it is that she does what she does. Seriously. I just can't help but notice seeing her run the steeplechase on Saturday and then on Tuesday be practicing for Women's Soccer.

She will also be playing for the New England Mutiny this summer, a women's soccer team.

The amount of time that she must commit to competing for UConn in two sports and the Mutiny is enormous. Plus she is in school. I don't know how she has a life but I'm sure she enjoys it. She must be in tremendous shape too. Such good shape that she probably looks forward to conditioning because she can just fly by everyone else.

What I am saying is that behind all the goofy, weird and memorable things that I've said about her, she truly is doing something amazing and worth noticing. I'd like to meet her one day. What she is doing is truly remarkable because I just don't know how there is enough time in the day for her to do anything other than work on her game and go to school.

I don't know how she does it.

I'm also really jealous that I didn't have the parents to socialize me into sports nor give me the genes to be really really really good at them!

But really Meghan Cunningham is doing something special and I hope, truly hope that I'm not the only one who notices that. If her name is ever announced for winning an award at a football or basketball game then I hope that the student section gives her a huge round of applause...especially to make up for the lack of one that O'Brian White got when his name was announced at a game this year.

I am a maven and I will continue to talk about Meghan Cunningham. I guess a serious entry about her is good every once in awhile. Trust me, the Sports Management teachers will know everything about her accomplishments before I graduate. Dr. Fink already knows a little.

Seriously...Meghan Cunningham might not be on my list of the 3 people dead or alive that I'd want to have dinner with...but she's head and shoulders above 99% of other UConn athletes.
