Well I haven't gotten around to talking about Sean, my young friend from Clark Elementary school in Hartford. I have worked with this kindergarten kid through Husky Sport since the beginning of this year. Sean's mother was in the marines in Japan. She couldn't handle him after a while so he was sent to Hartford to live with his grandma. He loves and needs attention, so I give it to him. I often play soccer with him because he likes to kick a ball. He also likes volleyball too. He has trouble paying attention to directions and he can turn into the class clown. He requires some work, but I enjoy the challenge of working with him. Him having a good day makes me so happy. I feel like I helped make a difference when he follows directions and behaves well. I hadn't seen Sean in a long time until about a week ago. I was so happy to see him. It made my day.
I don't really know what to say, but Sean is a great kid, who I hope gets what he needs to succeed in life. He certainly is a work in progress, but I can't say how important it is to stay and get involved in projects like Husky Sport that get people involved in helping others make the world a better place. I miss Sean, and getting the chance to work with him, but Sean made my day, and he and Husky Sport have been a large part of my life, so I feel like he should get some time on my blog. I talk about a lot of things that go on in sports and my life, but I think it's important that I mention Sean and some of the great things that take place because of Husky Sport. This program helps connect UConn students with kids in Hartford through sports and activities. I hope you get involved and support the program too. You will learn a lot through the program and will become a better person. You will grow and you will help others grow. You will get to form connections with people you never thought you would, and you will be forever grateful for the memories that occur through the program. I can't tell you how much it meant to just get to see Sean for such a short period of time, but it most certainly was noteworthy..and blog-worthy.
