WBB

Players of the Game
Vs. Georgia Tech Maya Moore
Vs. San Diego State Maya Moore
vs. Rhode Island Tina Charles
vs. BYU Renee Montgomery
Vs Oklahoma Renee Montgomery
vs Holy Cross Tahirah Williams
vs Penn State Tina Charles

I decided I should name a player of the game for some reason. Not like anyone really cares. But I'll do it anyway for all sports or games I go to.

Today's team manager of the game was Emily Mattson. She was able to get towels and a drink to Lorin Dixon and Caroline Doty at the same time in a speedy fashion.

Tina Charles was excellent against Penn State. One of the best games that I have seen her play at UConn. She also has been working pretty hard. I saw her early one morning practicing in Gampel.

Caroline Doty finally missed a 3. She had hit 10 in a row before. She is a tough player and a fan favorite. I like players who always find themselves on the floor or get on TV with bloody noses.

The three UConn players that no one talks about but who I think are very important are Kalana Greene, Kaili McLaren and Lorin Dixon.

I believe that Kalana is a great defensive presence and gets tons of rebounds, especially on the offensive end. She was a center in high school. With her ACL injury she has been somewhat effected with what she can do. She has improved her shooting because shooting practice was the one thing that she was permitted to do because of her ACL injury last year.

Kaili McLaren's passing ability is amazing. Just look at the pass she had late in the game to Tina Charles. She can hit anybody who is cutting to the basket. She told me her brother was a point guard and that's how she learned to pass so well. She also has a pretty good jump shot.

Lorin Dixon looks much more confident this year. She is really quick and she is very hard to shake as a defender. I can't think of anything more annoying to play against than a quick defender. Quick defenders can make offensive players more nervous and can force them to make quick and often times bad decisions.
