More Trivia...

The first national radio broadcast of a NFL football game was the Thanksgiving game between the Bears and Lions in 1934. As usual the Lions lost, although not by as much as usual. 19-16

Tahirah Williams and Caroline Doty list One Tree Hill as their favorite TV show in the media guide. I wonder if they are huge fans of the Tree Hill Ravens.

The first televised baseball game was on May 17th 1939 between Princeton and Columbia. 4oo people watched on TV. (hey thats more fans than the Marlins have) On August 26th 1939 the first major league game was televised between the Brooklyn Dodgers and Cincinnati Reds.

You might want to stop reading. It only goes downhill from here. I'm warning you. It's not suitable for viewing unless you have to choose between watching channels 71-73 on UConn Television or this.

I'm glad that my GPA is once again higher than the cost of a gallon of gas.

Random thing, I love it when athletes put funny or stupid answers to media guide questions. They think that no one reads them, but I do. I'm waiting for an athlete to write "I came to UConn because I knew that R. Tim would read the media guide"

back to Trivia. things can only get slightly better from here.

The Jackie Robinson Park of Fame is located at Jackie Robinson Way, West Main Street, Stamford, Connecticut.

(I had no idea there was a reason to visit my hometown)

Babe Ruth's first Pro game was on April 22nd 1914 in Baltimore for the Orioles in the International League. He tossed a six hitter in a 6-0 win over Buffalo.

I find Charlie Keller interesting. He hit .334 for the Yankees as a Rookie in 1939. He had 5 - 100 RBI seasons for the Yankees in 1940's and hit 30 or more homers 5 times. He played in 4 world series with the Yankees. He is from Middletown, Maryland. How could I possibly tie UConn to this? Easy. According to UConn Huskies.com Softball player Erin Burtner went to High School in Middletown, Maryland.

If you found that last fact interesting your more pathetic than I am.

Only 281,278 fans watched the Boston Braves in 1952. That is why they moved to Milwaukee and became the Brewers

On May 13th 1952 Ron Necciai struck out 27 in a nine inning no hitter in the Appalachian League.

The first perfect game in the history of baseball was pitched in Worcester, Massachusetts on June 12th 1880 by Lee Richmond. Currently that spot is on the campus of Becker College. That was also the last season that the pitching distance was 45 feet. 5 days later Providence's John Montgomery Ward pitched a perfect game against Buffalo.

I love New Hampshire. So did Babe Ruth, after his career he would often vacation in North Conway.

If you don't like New Hampshire you have problems. As a matter of fact New Hampshire is so great that I tell people that My Lake House is 4 miles south of New Hampshire, rather than just saying its in Ashburnham, Massachusetts.

Lake Winnipesaukee is the greatest place on earth.

The Kangamangus Highway in New Hampshire is the prettiest drive in the country. I love cycling there. After you bike you can cool off in the river next to the road.

As a side note read media guides, don't facebook stalk people, seriously it's weird to do that. Plus people put things on facebook just for fun...I hate it when people take things on there too seriously. Anything put in a media guide is public knowledge...they are printed for people to spread information, that's why I read them. Facebook is for networking and keeping in touch with friends. There is a difference.
